Activities

Dirt Bikes – We have 18 Yamaha Dirt Bikes that aresuitable for most riders aged 12 and up, with dirt trails all over the property it is a great place for beginners & experienced riders. With an in-house licensing system we ensure that those participating on the Dirt Bikes have the necessary skills & knowledge before being challenged at that next level. Refer to Dirt Bike Camps for more information

Horses – With a mob of 35 horses and trails running through the bush and over open fields it makes for a great relaxing experience, or for the more experienced rider, it is a great place to go for a trot or canter.  Mountain Trails has what it takes to provide a quality horse program with experienced staff to teach riders at all levels and use the environment around us to explore wilderness trails.

Caving – Aims at providing the participants with a glimpse of some of nature’s most wonderful creations. Using these natural foundations our trained & experienced staff choose from a number of different caves available to determine which is the most appropriate to the group, these range from Signature Cave to the whole Dip series including Dip 1 & 2, Gong & abseiling in to the Daylight Chamber. We can also run more advanced caving which is suitable for more experienced cavers including 65 Pitch & Punchbowl Cave.

High Ropes – The aim of the high ropes course is to challenge students to have faith in something, in this case it’s the team around them on the belay system & supporting them. Many people do not like heights so with our floating obstacle course it provides a platform for a safe yet confronting challenge to develop trust, confidence & team building skills.

Abseiling – Aims to develop confidence within participants. Your instinct tells you that it is not natural to go over the edge of a cliff. Confidence develops when you make a choice to do that. Our main abseiling site is Devil’s Punchbowl near Wee Jasper with a small practice abseil for beginners and a 25-30m abseil for the more adventurous.  At Wee Jasper there is also the option to abseil into caves.  Our high ropes tower also accommodates a 4m and 8m abseil for something in closer range.

Rock Climbing – we have 2 different options for rock climbing, we have an indoor rock wall that runs on the inside of the dining hall allowing for multiple people to be climbing at once. This is great for wet weather and a quick activity. We also have use of the abseil tower, which can be used for rock climbing. One wall goes all the way to the top of the tower and then one that is half the size of the tower.

Low Ropes/Initiatives - It is said that team building happens through most of our activities but Low Ropes & Initiatives is where we get back to the basics. There are a number of different obstacles & challenges for team building which look at skills such as initiative, communication, trust and confidence which will all be demonstrated through the games & challenges at the low ropes course.

Hiking & Orienteering - Mountain Trails has a large range of hiking tracks, camping sites and fire trails for vehicle access.  Hiking, map reading and navigation can be organised as a half day or full day activity.  For a more extensive and adventurous experience a multi-day trek can be created including these aspects or incorporating more activities.  All of these activities start with instruction on how to read maps and use compasses, but the aim is to get the students out into the field experiencing it for themselves.

Bush Walking & Environmental Studies – There are numerous bush walking and creek walking tracks on the property.  The Mountain Trails property is largely wilderness, bush creeks, mountains and gullies with some open grazing land, so there is plenty of opportunity to learn about Australian native flora and fauna, natural processes and human impact.  Activities can be planned based on what the students are currently learning or just a fun and interactive bush experience.
