Activity Instructor

Mountain Trails Adventure School is looking for Outdoor Instructors to facilitate engaging activities for our clients. Mountain Trails is focused on building a larger client base, creating new and exciting programs and developing programs which create the opportunity for the Gospel to be shared. Mountain Trails is seeking Outdoor Instructors who will bring strength to the team, strive to create a safe but fun environment and to bring about life changing adventures to those who participate in our camps.

Mountain Trails is a Christian campsite which is surrounded by 9500 acres of bush land set in the Brindabella Ranges. The property is full of trails, mountains and valleys, much of it is untouched Australian wilderness. Our activities include dirt bikes, horse riding, canoeing, caving, abseiling, high ropes, low ropes, bushwalking, archery, mountain bikes, initiative games and many more.

We believe that every person enjoys a full, safe and stimulating program that not only gives pleasure, but provides challenges for growth physically, mentally and spiritually. We desire that every camper hears the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a clear, precise and understandable way and wish to create an avenue for Christian service to all staff and volunteers.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE INCLUDE:

· Outdoor Instructors are involved in the leadership, planning, preparation and delivery of outdoor education programs within their training, experience & competence.

· Supervises groups on OE programs, giving instruction within the purpose of the program.

· Provides first aide to clients as needed, and coordinates responses to emergency situations during programs.

· Demonstrates and teaches clients the skills required for each activity, which includes all appropriate safety precautions.

· Conducts briefing and preparation sessions as needed and demonstrates the use of the required equipment.

· Delivering programs under the supervision and instruction of the Program Coordinator.

· Implementing and complying with any industry standards that are relevant to Mountain Trails programs.

· Maintain and care for all program equipment.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

· Interest and experience in working with clients from school years K – 12 and young adults along with adult groups.

· Cert III in Outdoor Leadership or equivalent qualifications.

· Experience in leading OE programs.

· Ability to present yourself as a good role model for all clients, providing support and assistance to them as required.

· Great relationship building and communication skills.

· NSW Working With Children Check.

· Not to be dependent on tobacco, alcohol or illicit drug.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

· Bronze Medallion

· First Aid Certificate

· Active Christian Faith

Camp Leader

Mountain Trails is seeking Camp Leaders who will bring strength to the team, strive to create a safe but fun environment and to bring about life changing adventures to those who participate in our camps.

· Provide behavioural management throughout the program.

· Encourage and inspire campers.

· Assist with conflict resolution.

· Set a good example for campers and staff.

· Maintain the campgrounds, amenities, and facilities.

· Manage and facilitate children’s play, sports activities, and other free time activities.

· Enforce the established safety and behaviour standards, including dietary restrictions and immediately report any unsafe and/or inappropriate behaviours.

· Encourage all campers to participate in the daily activities.

· Assist with Activity sessions when needed.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

· All our activity team are required to communicate the Gospel of Jesus with their lives, so an active Christian faith demonstrated by a commitment to a local Christian Church is required.

· A full agreement with Mountain Trails Aims and Statement of Faith.
